christine's polly

You know I love the Softies book. My friend Christine does too and yesterday she brought her new friend Polly over to say Hello. Isn't she gorgeous?

forget what I said before...THIS is my softies for mirabel post!

Well, I know that knife photo was a tad off the mark for my last post title.
I'm hoping to redeem myself with some pics of my REAL softies. They are both finished and I may do more, but for now, this is it!
The kid seems to be coping with POWER PROTEIN SHAKES and the generally wonderful & nutritious meals I prepare, although shake number two was deemed "too frothy" and I almost strangled the living daylights out of the little darling.
I also felt inspired to have a major chuck out of books on the groaning shelf. I feel so much lighter. We actually have a spare shelf for the first time EVER. And I feel GREAT that I'm not hanging onto these things just because they look good. I was a bit hung up on owning books, but I think I am ready to let that idea go. Lots of the ones I kept are un-give-away-able due to damage (covers ripped off to comply with publishers "damages" policies) or as yet unread.
The school is having a fete on erection day (ooops) and I am donating about three beer cartons full of lovely novels to the cause, and a few hand-made bits and some no-longer-loved toys, and my precious time. Along with all the other fabbo parents.
I hope everyone enjoys their Cup Day shenanigans. My next post will be the overdue Flashback of Glamour Mums. Mine's been holidaying in Vietnam for the past three weeks, home again today!!! Welcome back Mum..I'll be coming to raid the photo collection tomorrow!

softies for mirabel

Must go back & read all the details involved in this project, but in the meantime I have started my softy for Mirabel. What a great idea!
I definitely needed a new reason to craft.
The lampshades are being carefully placed in situ at Flemington. I hope we get to see some photos of them in their glory.
All I'm thinking about at the moment is how to get my 10 year old (recent vegetarian) fit & healthy. Any handy hints or tips greatly appreciated. He's not sick, just constantly exhausted, teary & generally blah. At the advice of the rather "buff" health food shop guy, we're going to try whey protein powder shakes.. what next??!@#$%
We have all adopted pulses as our latest best friends, even though the 8 year old princess would rather tuck into a chunk of meat at each meal. How many evening meals is it sensible to prepare each night to keep everyone happy? It wasn't like this when I was a kid was it?
I'm afraid my creativity is at a fairly low ebb, what with all of the magicking of delicious & nutritious meals.
Next post will be the Softy...much more fun! I think it's looking a bit cute so far.
And what's the story with the text in my last Flashback Fridays post?

softies, we love them so

Here's the little devilish softie that Pepper & I made this week. Pepper's friend Billie also made one with us. They are from the lovely book Softies and they are called "little devil" and "devilish".
They are so cute and so easy to make! You should make one!

some days

Some days it's great to go to work.
When you walk out into the crispy clear morning, with the sun shining, pausing to say Hi to the mechanic and the tram's on time and some lovely songs play on your ipod, it's a good day.
When you get to work and someone says to you "Have you seen this?" and it's the new book called Softies, well then it's a GREAT day!!!.
I even made it to the station in time for the early train and got a seat, and the sun was still shining when I walked back up the street to home, and my neighbours are friendly, and D got home BEFORE 6 o'clock (even though he has to go back in at 10pm) and the kids ate their dinner without complaining too much and Pepper has done her homework.
What more can I say?
I hope your day was great too.
