Eat yer greens!

We had a lovely day in the city today. It was a girls' shopping day, to find something lovely for Miss Pepper (now a big 11) to wear. My Mum gave her a hand made voucher for her recent birthday promising a shopping trip. Three generations took the train to Melbourne, fearing the heat (no Probs). I must refer to the latest post of Violet & Rose, where Jo laments the difficulty of finding nice age appropriate clothes for her darling aged 9. It took a lot of looking for us to find a dress and a pair of togs. But we did find them eventually.
In a couple of the bigger department stores I was completely SHOCKED by some of the slutty, crappy, glitzy and revolting things that are marketed towards young girls. Wayne Jnr?

Things that happened which weren't excellent include me losing an earring whilst trying on tops, only discovered disembarking from the train at the home end.
Not being served in the Lindt shop/cafe in Collins St. We waited at the counter holding bars of delish choc...we looked around to spy available staff (none), we watched another group of folk wandering about hoping for a table...we watched a staff member talk to them, look over to us and then disappear into a storeroom/kitchen. He didn't wave and say "be there in a minute" he didn't quietly lift a finger in greeting or apology, he walked off.
So we did too. We did put the choccy back first of course.

Things that were really good. Going directly from Lindt to Little Cupcakes in Degraves St. We bought a box of 5 phenomenally wonderful mini cupcakes to take home. And rated them a score out of 5 each. Gee if I could eat them again right now I would!
Ringing the two shops where I tried on shirts to discover that the second one indeed found my lovely earring and will look after it for me til I pick it up! Thank you!!! The earring was a pearl one from my Mum to replace a pearl one I lost on the day of my Dad's non-funeral lunch in July.

And on a completely unrelated topic. Here is my first ever home grown cucumber. It was so yummy, crunchy and fresh.
And please take a moment to appreciate the cornucopia of veg that the kids have made from polymer clay. It's so cute!

bloggers block

I haven't been very blogger-licious lately. I can't think of anything exciting to waffle on about.
I'm going to pop up a couple of photos of recent doings to try & restart the creative flow.
I made another softie but it wasn't particularly well done. In fact the bum region didn't come together at all well. Maybe there's something in that "pattern following" idea. I don't like reading instructions much. Someone else always does the reading for those important things which just would not work unless the instructions were read. Just as well.
We didn't pay any attention to the big hoss race last week. We were fluffing around the house in a most unproductive way, then decided after lunch to hit the bike paths of Richmond & more. We rode past Collingwood Childrens Farm and on to Studley Park Boathouse. (never been there before) and we spontaneously took out a rowboat for a little spin. What a gorgeous day for it!
Pepper got to meet a horse, she fed a lamb at closing time at the farm, when we thought we were too late for any quality time.(4.55pm) We got some exercise!! And we did something new and different out & about in the sun. Yeeeeehah!!
