Last weekend we had a fantastic camping trip.
The past few years we have gone away with the same 5 families to assorted camping spots. We have been to Parker Hill in the Otways, the Murray up near Yarrawonga and Malden. We always have a ball, eat and drink way too much and come home encrusted with dirt. PERFECT!!
This year we expanded our horizons a little and joined in with more folks, to make a camp of 10 families with a combined collection of 24 kids!
We set up camp near Deans Marsh (Otways) in a beautiful clearing of eucalypts. There was a dry creek bed lined with river stones, a deluxe (by our standards) toilet and shower, a store room with some sheltered picnic tables, a big camp fire area circled with rocks AND A TYRE SWING!
If we had charged a dollar per ride on the swing, I'm sure we could've retired on the profit.
The only regret I have, is that I didn't take a photo of all those kids lined up en masse.
It was a sight to behold. The easter egg hunt took place in the creek bed, with eggs and bunnies scattered liberally along one stretch near our camp. You should have seen the intrepid hunters throwing themselves off the embankment like little starving lemmings to get to the booty.
D and Mackie spent some quality time in the evenings playing with the long exposure setting on the camera around the campfire. And I spent a little time eavesdropping on the teen-ish conversation by the glowing logs too. Very eye-opening. EEEEEK!
