TELL ME THE SECRET!!!!

Well, you know that I make decorated hairclips, badges & hair elastics...
It all started very hobby-like and for the most part that is the way I prefer it to be.
A few great shops stock the range of Utter Puffery things I make and approaching them took me way outside my comfort zone. I'm so thrilled that these handmade treats have an audience outside my immediate circle.
Now I have a bit of a dilemma. I need to source the plain "one-touch" clips and the soft coloured "ponytailers" in a more WHOLESALE way. I still buy these essentials in retail outlets. Do I need to mention a brand name? L.J. I am finding it harder & harder to find exactly the bits I need in the quantities I need, and more & more expensive obviously. Clips have just increased in price by a dollar per pack!!! Enormous profit margin shrinking. (Exclaimed in the voice of the Wicked Witch melting)
The clips I use are sold in packets of 10 (not enough to get much done) and are elaborately packaged. The amount of wastage that is generated by a productive session is disgusting. I sent them an email querying the need to package quite so excessively. Needless to say, the kids' school is the beneficiary of many many small plastic containers!!
I'm sure you are probably thinking..."what a loser, she's got access to the internet, why can't she find a wholesaler herself" or maybe you are much more kind than that.
I just want a good quality product, available in Melbourne, that does not cost the earth either financially or otherwise.
If you can enlighten me, please leave me a comment or dash off a quick email.
I love you all my funny Valentines, thank you.
And I forgot to photograph my beautiful Sunday lunch!
Such a shame because we enjoyed our annual botanic gardens picnic in honour of my mum's birthday. As usual it was a delicious spread, bbq chook, spinach & feta pie, scrumptious dips & bread and the most gooey, decadent & unforgettable cake. Of course when I say unforgettable, I mean the taste & not the name of it...because that's flown right out of my head for the moment.
Oh yeah, excuse my spelling, but it was called a Japonais (?)
The weather was perfect and the doggie came and flaked out on the rug in the sun.
And I forgot to photograph the heart I took to Mikes on Monday for Mirabel

Please don't get excited - I am not about to let you in on the secret!! I want in on it too!
I buy the clips for my hair accessories at a large (shall we say Big) variety store, also in packets of 10.
Have you tried somewhere like Petra or Hair Warehouse? Perhaps they can buy in a large supply for you?
I have a friend who has a salon - I will speak to her as she might know whether its possible to buy in bulk from a hair products wholesaler.
Perhaps we could buy together and share in the economies of scale....

I get my clips from Spotlight. They are just like the LJ ones but they have a small hole in the top, which actually makes it easier to attach things too. They only come in silver though. The brand is Birch and you will find them in the quilting section (they are called binding and hem clips) You get about 30 in the pack. I cant remember the exact cost but they are a LOT cheaper than buying the LJ ones retail. Hope this helps.

I think your little creations are lovely :-)

I have been meaning to send you this forever, or well, since you wrote this post.

I get my clips from here:

Even after the postage, they work out very economical. And you get 100 in one snaplock bag! They post out very quickly too. Highly recommended.

Good luck!
