Rainy days and giving thanks

Things are so great overall aren't they?
There are so many things to be grateful for.
Old school pals. We have been talking lately about the phenomenon of children with mobile phones..in grade 5 and 6, and it reminded me of the days when we used to spend the whole day together at school, go home and spend hours on the phone, and shirk homework responsibilities to write eachother letters to post midweek. You know who you are Mo & Missy.
Lovely and friendly neighbours. (Thank you to Fi who has her hands full of kids and a partner away overseas who still offers to pick things up at the supermarket for me.)
Beautiful girlfriends to have brunch with. These are "mother's group" girls I have known since those anxious, stressful first baby days ten and a half years ago. Their laughs and advice and our shared experiences are so precious to me. Thank you Jacinta & Clare.
Great other girlfriends picked up along the way at kindergarten and school whose friendship is so fantastic and life-affirming. They bring such diverse and wonderful things to my life.
They are there when you need them, in fact all of these quality chicks are.
The friendship of women makes me so glad. I feel sorry for lots of boys who never experience this richness and connection.

Having babies was the single greatest thing I ever did for my social life. The universality of the experience of child-rearing is astonishing. All you can offer is your support and encouragement to those remarkable and resourceful people growing the adults of the future. It's such a full-on responsibility.
Mums.
Need I say more? I thank all these gorgeous women it has been my privilege to know, especially my own indefatiguable Mum. Your stories and humour and grace under pressure keep me going when I run low on energy and drive.
Crafting ladies of late have inspired me and this "blogworld" is such a font of inspiration and support. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of spirit of the bloggers and their fans out there.
But why would it be any different? Women are incredible. I thank you all for making my life so rich.
