So fantastic to come home today and see that some "patching" work has been done in renovation land. We have had big wall holes and fresh air and grotty dirty bits for so long that we have become almost immune to it. Love the wonky look of everything in these photos.
The plasterers have been in for a week at least, working on the walls & roof upstairs. It's looking very nice and close to liveable. Downstairs has just begun to look a tad on the shabby (but not chic) side. I can hardly believe that the whole job will be done one day soon and that we have ONE WHOLE ROOM spare. A room, do I dare to dream, that will be a permanent creative space?
Still, at this stage we don't know exactly which room it will be. The plan to send both kids into their own new rooms upstairs has come a bit adrift by D falling in love with the new space and considering making it a parent's retreat. Needless to say, kids not too impressed and contemplating a violent uprising. Have you ever successfully turned the tables on a plan like this and lived to tell the tale? THEY say "you MADE it for US" and we say "WE'RE paying for it, so we can have it if we want to" It's an ugly sort of an argument and we're really trying to ignore it mainly, until someone has to choose some paint colours!
I'm still managing to do a little craft. My red and black quilt is just two short edges from being completely bound and finished. I could knock it over in a couple of nights in front of dull telly, but life is kinda cramped, all in our bedroom with couch, tv, dog, cat, two kids, shelves full of stuff, the computer, printer and the dirty dinner dishes.
On election day, we're digging out the craft stall again and getting out there with the sausage sizzlers and the cake-stallers to capture the attention of the polling public. So I'm making a few big colourful badges and thinking of other small projects.
Have a great Friday everyone. Hope you're all well. I had a birthday weeks ago and got these stunning tulips from D. We had tulips in our wedding bouquet. I love them. These ones lasted in our chilly kitchen for two weeks!!!! That other arty green shot was some parsley I cut from the garden. Wacky.
