Spotlight, the spotlight is on you

Yesterday, after an hour or so of back breaking labour at the kids' school working bee (VERY POORLY ATTENDED) I hopped in the car to take the kids to Spotlight.
Briefly, can I tell you...two mums, one dad and one 12yr old girl. Shovelling wet sand, dirt and gravel from three piles on the oval, into two wheelbarrows and wheeling them to the proposed running track (under construction) for three dads, one mum and three kids to rake and scrape, level and edge, continuously for over an hour is back breaking. I was a shoveller and wheelbarrower and I am feeling it this morning!
So back to Spotty. We are devotees of the Malvern store. I am a VIP which as far as I can see, means that every week I get a couple of fat letters full of advertising material to throw in the recycling. Well, turns out I should have been reading some of that guff because when we pulled up out the front yesterday....it was gone. Just a shell of its former self. sigh...Jesus, now I have to go to the new bloody store...Carnegie!
And here's the bit where I just have to have a good whinge. I HATE the SUPERSTORE concept. I HATE the carpark with fluoro-vested car park attendants waving their arms up and down the aisles. I hate the hoons that think they should rev up the ramps and around the corners, I hate the ticket machines. I hate the cafes set up to make us think we need to eat something just because they are there. For crying out loud, we're just going shopping, we don't need to "fill-up" in preparation, it's not a freaking marathon.I detest the vast spaces filled with hoardes of shoppers, wandering aimlessly. I hate that there are no people with knowledge of the products they sell ANYWHERE NEAR THE BLOODY PROUCTS. I hate shop assistants chatting at the counter with eachother when I have TAKEN A NUMBER (hate it) as instructed and there are no other customers to be served.
But what I really hate is that they don't sell badge backs in the little jewellery components packets anymore. Where have they gone? With all that space and all those fantastic and awesome (and ridiculous) products, where are the teensy little things that I need?

I'm with you there! I flit between the Malvern and Moorabbin stores, and got a bit excited about the Carnegie store opening, as it is close to home. Big disappointment! Think I'll stick with Moorabbin - at least the staff know their products there.

Carnegie might be bad but it can't be anything on Box Hill store. My 9 year old said to me that other day - 'I thought you said you were never coming back here Mummy!' - well I DID but it is the closest store and when you need something....... Always leave frustrated though at lack of service, rudeness etc. AND HATE having to pay for car parking.
