Hot on the heels of my post about Lucy the evil cat was this amazing scenario yesterday.
The blokes, big and small, went for a bike ride yesterday, wheeling the bikes out of our tiny sideway shed and off. So the side door was open to let in the beaming sun, the gate was open and the garden gate too. All fine.
I was in the front room trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear, aka cleaning and rearranging the kids room to give the illusion of more space. I was vacuuming and listening to 3RRR,( JVG of course), when this loud scuffling noise caught my attention. As I was home alone I checked out the front window..nothing. Then I set off down the hallway into the kitchen/lounge (in the tradition of slasher- movie chicks) to find out what was going on.
There, to my horror was a massive white hairy Siberian Husky skidding around after the cat. At first she was bailed up under the coffee table, but there was evidence of much madness. Tufts of hair (mainly dog), cat food all over, great skidding claw-marks all over the floorboards, rug bunched up in a pile and an overpowering smell of crazed animal hormones.
When I started screaming at the dog, they both took off for the doorway and had another show-down, before tearing away in separate directions.
Wow, I was freaked out and so was Lucy. She disappeared for the rest of the afternoon and thankfully reappeared at about 7pm just when the kids were starting to fret. The evil dog has been identified as a habitual runner-away from a couple of streets over.
We have never been more glad to see Lucy. Her back end was covered in dog slobber, but a night of furious cleaning seems to have restored her to her usual composed self.
On a brighter note, these funny folk were made in a crafty moment last year by Mackie & Pepper and named ingeniously by Mackie as VOO-DUDES.

Oh poor Lucy, we have 2 big, errant, Old English Sheep Dogs that prowl around our gate, teasing our dog with their wild, unchecked freedom, it drives kabuki MAD! I need to locate the owners and tell them I think, the dog is nuerotic enough!
